Standing in complete contrast to “Blood Moon” is the B-side “Mona Lisa”. Federale’s version of “Mona Lisa” is a traditional orchestral jazz arrangement of the jazz standard made famous by Nat King Cole and Harry Connick Jr. Featuring real strings, stand-up bass and flutes, the style of this song couldn't be farther from that of “Blood Moon” (or the rest of Federale’s catalog). But interesting things in life are built from strong contrasts. This version of the song is not featured in the film. However an acapella version of “Mona Lisa” featuring the voice of Federale’s Collin Hegna will grace the celluloid.

Other more famous voices were considered for the role of the singer in “Mona Lisa And The Blood Moon”. But to quote Ana Lily Amirpour: “It was a no immediately. Collin’s voice has that dark romance. It's already branded in so many of my films ...”
